What qualifying allowance rate am I entitled to?

I’m not entitled to the higher rate of Disability Living Allowance (DLA). What should I do?

Are people over the age of 65 eligible for the Motability Scheme?

Yes, if you’re already receiving the higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement. If you don’t receive these allowances, you won’t be eligible beyond the age of 65.
Can I have a Motability car alongside a powered wheelchair or scooter?

No, your qualifying allowance is used to cover the cost of the car, which generally takes up the full allowance.
Who is insured to drive my Motability car?

You can nominate up to two drivers for your Motability vehicle. If you’re a disabled driver, you count as one of the nominated drivers. A third driver can be added at an extra cost. Restrictions apply to drivers under 25, and changes can be made during your lease.
Does the person receiving the qualifying allowance always need to be in the vehicle?

No. While the Scheme is primarily for your use, nominated drivers can use the car independently for essential tasks, such as shopping or picking up prescriptions.
How long will it take for my vehicle to be delivered?

Delivery times depend on the vehicle model and whether adaptations are required. We’ll keep you updated throughout the process.
Can I end my Motability Scheme lease early?

Can I take my Motability car abroad?
