New Yaris Cross has been restyled front to back. An all-new bold front end, a body-coloured honeycomb grille and slimmer LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights give it a wider, more planted stance. Clean surfaces and defined feature lines keep the look premium rather than fussy, and new colours including Precious Bronze bi-tone and Storm Grey make the most of it.
Inside, platinum-finish trim on the doors and instrument panel lifts the cabin, and higher grades get improved seats with better lateral support and three-tone stitching.
It is still built for real streets. Compact dimensions, a tight turning circle and raised ground clearance mean it is as easy to place in a multi-storey as it is to live with on a country road.
Every New Yaris Cross is a self-charging full hybrid. The 1.5 litre Hybrid 130 system produces 130hp and blends petrol and electric drive automatically, so there is nothing to plug in and nothing to think about. It pulls away silently on electric power and can run in EV mode at speeds up to 31mph, which is where most town driving happens.
Choose front-wheel drive, or AWD-i for extra grip when the weather turns. Three drive modes (Eco, Normal and Sport) let you set the car up for the journey.

Settle into the elevated, SUV-inspired driving position and the view down the road is a lot clearer. In front of you sits a customisable 12.3in digital driver's display; beside it, a 10.5in Toyota Smart Connect touchscreen with cloud-based navigation, live traffic, the "Hey Toyota" voice assistant and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Behind, the cabin is airy and genuinely usable. The 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats and adjustable boot deck board take everything from a weekly shop to a flat-pack, and the powered tailgate with kick sensor opens when your hands are full.
Toyota Safety Sense comes as standard, with a Pre-Collision System that recognises pedestrians, cyclists and motorcycles, Lane Trace Assist, Proactive Driving Assist, Blind Spot Monitor and Emergency Driving Stop System.
