At Curtis Toyota, one of the most common questions we’re asked is what actually happens during a vehicle service.
Many drivers know servicing is important, but aren’t always sure what is included or what they are paying for.
Here’s a clear breakdown of what a full Toyota service involves and why it matters.
What Is Included in a Full Toyota Service?
A full service is designed to check, maintain and protect your vehicle.
This typically includes:
• Engine oil and oil filter replacement
• Brake inspection and condition check
• Tyre condition and tread depth check
• Steering and suspension inspection
• Battery health check
• Fluid level checks and top-ups
• Lights and electrical system check
• Underbody inspection
Each of these checks helps ensure your vehicle is safe, efficient and running correctly.
Attention to Detail Matters
Servicing is not just about replacing parts, it is about doing the job properly.
During servicing, our technicians also carry out checks such as correctly torquing and marking components like sump plugs.
This gives additional peace of mind that work has been completed to the correct standard and allows easy visual confirmation during future inspections.
Hybrid Health Check (Where Applicable)
As part of servicing, we also carry out a Toyota Hybrid Health Check where applicable.
This check:
• Assesses the condition of the hybrid battery
• Confirms correct system operation
• Supports ongoing hybrid battery warranty eligibility
If the vehicle passes, this helps maintain hybrid battery cover in line with Toyota guidelines.
Important to Know
In some situations, a Hybrid Health Check cannot be completed immediately.
For example:
• If the hybrid battery has been disconnected
• If the battery has been fully discharged or gone flat
The system requires a period of normal driving before it can be accurately tested again.
Typically, this means:
• Around 400 miles of driving
or
• Approximately 1 month of normal use
Once this has been completed, the Hybrid Health Check can then be carried out.
Why Regular Servicing Is Important
Routine servicing helps:
• Identify issues early before they become costly
• Maintain fuel efficiency
• Keep safety systems working correctly
• Protect long-term reliability
Skipping servicing can lead to bigger problems and higher costs over time.
